• We think responsibly about the future

Forests suffer from the effects of climate change. Previous actions related solely to forest management are no longer sufficient. Therefore, the State Forests, as a socially responsible organization, are engaging in the green transformation of the Polish economy.

  • We actively counteract climate change

We do not only conduct actions aimed at adapting forests and forestry to climate change, such as developing small water retention or forest fire protection systems, but we also undertake initiatives aimed at addressing their causes.

  • We support Poland's energy transition

We introduce zero-emission economy solutions in various areas of the State Forests' activities: infrastructure, production, and transportation. Three development projects serve the implementation of this strategic approach: 'Forest of Energy', 'Carbon Forests', and 'Improving the energy efficiency of buildings in the State Forests'.

The State Forests have developed a pioneering, nationwide study assessing the carbon footprint of seven tree species harvested in Poland: pine, spruce, fir, beech, oak, alder, and birch. The results confirm that the carbon footprint of wood is significantly lower than that of other materials such as steel, concrete, or plastic.
The climate-focused efforts of the State Forests have been recognized by the Responsible Business Forum.
Energy Infrastructure in Forests Is Nothing New – But Only the 'Forest of Energy' Project Sparks Controversy Energy infrastructure has occupied thousands of hectares of Polish forests for years, yet only the "Forest of Energy" project has sparked controversy. Meanwhile, wind farms in forests are becoming a standard across Europe, combining modern technologies with environmental protection. Our pilot project aims to provide reliable, scientific foundations for future decisions.
