Explanation from the Directorate General of the State Forests Regarding Publications on the “Forest of Energy” Project

Energy Infrastructure in Forests Is Nothing New – But Only the ‘Forest of Energy’ Project Sparks Controversy
Energy infrastructure has occupied thousands of hectares of Polish forests for years, yet only the “Forest of Energy” project has sparked controversy. Meanwhile, wind farms in forests are becoming a standard across Europe, combining modern technologies with environmental protection. Our pilot project aims to provide reliable, scientific foundations for future decisions.
We are starting the calculation of the carbon footprint of wood raw material.

We have taken another step towards analyzing and reducing our environmental impact. As part of the “Carbon Forests” project, we have begun calculating the carbon footprint of wood raw material – a key product and the primary source of revenue for our organization.
Electricity in Forest Nurseries – The Key to Efficient Seedling Production

Forest nurseries are places where young tree and shrub seedlings go through the first stage of their life before being planted in forests, reclaimed areas, or urban environments. Their operation requires the use of modern technologies that support seedling production and care. Electricity plays a crucial role in maintaining optimal growth conditions, improving work efficiency, and optimizing costs.
How to increase CO₂ absorption by forests?

The Forest Research Institute, commissioned by the Directorate General of State Forests, has developed a ranking of additional activities aimed at increasing the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by forest ecosystems. In our natural conditions, various actions can be undertaken depending on the characteristics and state of the forest ecosystem.
Carbon Forests – An Innovative Project for a Sustainable Future

Carbon Forests – An Innovative Project for a Sustainable Future 🌍
📣 The Carbon Forests (CF) project sets the course for modern forestry management, focusing on two main activities:
1️⃣ Increasing CO2 absorption and certifying absorption units
2️⃣ Calculating the carbon footprint of the State Forests (PGL LP) and their products
Efficient Procurement of Energy and Gas in the State Forests

Once again, the State Forests have conducted integrated procurement of electricity and gas. Centralized purchasing allows for cost optimization and efficient energy resource management across the various organizational units within the State Forests.
Award for the State Forests at the 23rd Edition of the EKOLAURY Competition

We are pleased to announce that the “Forests for Climate” program has been honored with the prestigious award of the Polish Chamber of Ecology for its innovative and comprehensive approach to climate protection! The program encompasses key initiatives such as “Energy Forests,” “Carbon Forests” and “Improving Energy Efficiency in PGL LP Buildings.“ This recognition highlights […]

Hydrogen technology in forests

On 26 September, a letter of intent was signed with the Polish Hydrogen Group at the headquarters of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Poznań. The potential cooperation is a step towards the development of a low-carbon economy in Poland.
The carbon footprint of the State Forests has been calculated.

For the first time in its history, the State Forests have calculated the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by the organization. This task was completed as part of the Carbon Forests development project. This knowledge will enable actions to reduce emissions.
