Construction of energy-efficient buildings in the State Forests

As part of the project, we plan to construct 30 energy-efficient buildings using innovative solutions (such as ‘green’ walls and roofs), including the use of wood and wood-derived materials. The facilities will be equipped with renewable energy installations and energy storage systems, as well as rainwater harvesting and treatment systems, and wastewater treatment systems, to enable them to become self-sufficient buildings. They shall meet the standards for energy-efficient buildings, and possibly even passive buildings.

New heating sources = cleaner air

The project includes the replacement of heating sources and the introduction of energy use control and management systems. Buildings located near larger towns will have air pollution monitoring installed in the form of sensors, with readings made available to the public as an e-environmental service.

Demonstration buildings

As part of the project, a pilot program is being conducted involving the construction of 3 demonstration buildings in the Lubin Forest District (Regional Directorate of the SF in Wrocław), the Dobrzejewice Forest District (RDSF in Toruń), and the Kwidzyn Forest District (RDSF in Gdańsk).

Demonstration buildings will be constructed using technology that ensures their high energy efficiency (towards zero-energy buildings) with the use of wood and wood-derived materials. They will serve as a model for the applied construction technology and solutions for use by other units of the State Forests.
