🌿 Study Visit to Bayerische Staatsforsten AöR – Sustainable Forest Management as a Response to the Challenges of the 21st Century 🌍
Climate change, the need to protect biodiversity, and the development of a circular economy require new strategies in forest management. A study visit by the State Forests delegation, led by Jerzy Fijas, Deputy Director General of the State Forests for Sustainable Forest Management, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the General Directorate for Environmental Protection, the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gorzów Wielkopolski, and the Poznań University of Life Sciences, to Bayerische Staatsforsten AöR enabled a valuable exchange of experiences and insights into innovative solutions, including:
✅ Adapting forests to climate change – Enhancing forest resilience to climate change by transforming monocultures into diverse forest stands and introducing tree species resistant to adverse conditions.
✅ Sustainable resource management – Balancing timber production with environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
✅ Social forests – From environmental protection to supporting tourism and ecological education. The development of viewing platforms and educational trails by Bayerische Staatsforsten AöR not only attracts tourists but also raises public awareness of the role of forests in climate protection.
✅ Development of renewable energy sources, particularly wind energy, while maintaining high ecological standards.
📢 The experiences of Bayerische Staatsforsten AöR serve as an inspiration for the activities of Poland’s State Forests, such as the “Forests for Climate” program, which promotes sustainable development and aims for climate neutrality.
📄 We invite you to explore the full publication summarizing the study visit to Bayerische Staatsforsten AöR, which provides a detailed overview of best practices in forest management and the development of renewable energy sources.
